How Barn Pros creates your estimate, and what is needed.
To create an accurate estimate for your structure, your project specialist will work with you to define the model(s), size, exterior additions, exterior treatments and interior options that create a structure that is personalized to your needs.
The address of your build site is also necessary to assess any geological or environmental factors in your region that may influence availability for different model options in your estimate.
The steps to creating your estimate:
Below is your list of steps. We’ll go into more detail for each one in the following sections.
- Outline the goals for your structure.
- Define what kind of model, layout and size will provide the space you need.
- Save inspiration photos from the photo gallery at the bottom of your preferred structure page, as well as customer showcase gallery pages.
- Review Model Options, pages 44-49 in your Digital catalog or ask for our Structure Options PDF to fully understand what features are available for your structure.
- Use the dropdowns on the structure page to select your preferred structure features and details.
- Share your goals and ask your project specialist for advice or clarification via email, phone, or video chat.
- Schedule a meeting with your project specialist to review the details you’ve gathered and confirm the capability of your structure design and features, to ensure an accurate estimate.
Outline the goals for your structure
Define what your structure will be used for:
- Residential living space with horse stalls, garage, storage or hobby space.
- Barn space for horses, livestock, equipment or hobbies.
- Storage space for horses, livestock, equipment or hobbies.
- Venue space for equipment, RVs, toys or hobbies
Define what type of structure will suit your needs:
- Barn apartment or barn home
- Barn
- Shop/ Garage
Single or multi-level:
- Single level (no loft)
- Multi-level (includes loft)
When you’ve defined the above details, you can filter and explore models that meet your criteria on the structure pages here.
Define what kind of layout and size will provide the space and features you need.
Next, identify a structure or structures that peak your interest. We recommend printing the floorplan elevations for the size you like and sketching your spaces.
Note that the floorplan documents are responsive based on the structure size you have selected on the structure page, and you can choose to print floorplans with stalls, garage doors, or open space.
The above are examples of printed floorplan elevations from the structure pages. These are what can be marked up and sketched upon.
If applicable, define the following details and sketch them onto the elevations as well. Your project specialist can make suggestions and offer additional layout tips if you have questions:
- # of stalls
- # of garage doors and their location on the building
- # of wash bays
- # of tack rooms
- # of bedrooms
- # of bathrooms
- # and location of man doors
- Any additional spaces or features
Save inspiration photos from photo galleries and structure pages.
The Barn Pros customer showcase galleries are great places to find inspiration and compare different features and designs. Gallery pages can be sorted by use case and structure type. Save the photos you like and share the features or design elements with your project specialist to communicate these details of your vision.
Each structure page also includes a gallery specific to that model at the bottom of each page.
Review Model Option pages.
When it comes to creating a personalized structure unique to your lifestyle, you have options. Get to know all of the ways you can create a space that represents your values with the many different shedroofs, dormers, cupolas, lofts, stall options and more. Your project specialist can help you narrow down options and suggest combinations that align with your vision and are as functional as they are beautiful.
The images below reflect the Barn Pros Model Options sheet, and your digital catalog, and will introduce you to the following structure feature options. Click the image links below or view the Model Options sheet here:
- Dormers
- Shed roofs
- Lofts
- Ceiling and wall finishes
- Cupolas
- Breezeway doors
- Hayloft doors
- Dutch doors and windows
- Horse stall packages
- Wash and groom packages
Like the example structure galleries, make note of the feature options that resonate with you and share them with your project specialist.
Use structure page dropdowns to choose model options.
On each structure page you will find drop down menus for exterior additions, exterior treatments and interior options. Not all of the above model options are available for every model, so this menu provides the features available for the specific model you are interested in. Additional options that you may find available here include:
- Wood siding options
- Soffit linings
- Timber accents
- Deck options
If there are options you want but do not see in the drop downs here, don’t hesitate to ask your project specialist if they are available. Depending on the structure model and your site criteria, features like raised sidewalls, wrap around porches and additional interior open space via removing select posts may be available.
Share your goals with your project specialist.
At any point while exploring structure models, features and options, don’t hesitate to connect with your project specialist. They are your resource to bounce ideas off of, clarify details and answer any questions you have along the way. We’re available via phone, email or video chat.
You can take the above steps on your own and create a “dream board” of sorts, outlining all of your desired structure details and features to then bring to your project specialist to dial in, or you can walk through the above steps with your project specialist to bring your vision to life.

Here you will confirm your details and answer any technical questions that may arise depending on the option combinations you have selected.
At this stage there may some back-and-forth as you work with your project specialist to solidify the right layout and features for your needs. Once you are excited and satisfied with your selected structure model, size, layout and features, your project specialist will create your detailed project estimate. This is the point when you will make your $10,000.00 deposit, Barn Pros will kick off the engineering of your blue prints and your project will officially be under way!
