Enhanced fire and wind resistance now available for all Barn Pros structure models

Building a structure that truly lasts requires thoughtful material choices that stand up to decades of weather exposure and regional challenges. We’re excited to announce that James Hardie fiber cement siding options are now available on all Barn Pros structure models, offering premium exterior protection that meets code requirements for wildland fire codes, as well as hurricane and high wind codes.

How James Hardie Fiber Cement Stands Apart

James Hardie siding has earned its reputation through proven performance across North America, where it currently protects over 10 million homes. The manufacturing process creates a unique composite that combines the strength of cement with the workability of traditional siding materials, resulting in siding that will not burn when exposed to direct flame, will not swell and expand when exposed to moisture, holds no appeal to pests like termites and resists warping, cracking, and moisture damage.

Engineered for Extreme Weather Performance

James Hardie fiber cement siding is specifically designed to withstand worst-case weather scenarios including wildfires, hurricanes, strong winds, and intense UV exposure. The material’s composition provides superior impact resistance and maintains its protective qualities and appearance even after significant weather exposure.

Fire Protection That Meets WUI and California Fire Code Standards

One of most significant advantages of Hardie® Plank and Hardie® Panel siding options is its compliance with Wildland and Urban Interface (WUI) standards nationwide, along with California fire code. This fire-resistant performance provides peace of mind for property owners in fire-prone regions where traditional wood siding does not meet building codes.

Versatility for Regional Requirements

Over the years, we’ve worked with clients who need siding solutions that meet specific homeowners’ association requirements or local architectural standards. Hardie® Plank or Hardie® Panel with Hardie® trim or batten boards has proven particularly effective for satisfying these stringent requirements while delivering superior performance.

Available Options for Every Structure

James Hardie fiber cement siding is available in two primary configurations for Barn Pros structures:

  • Hardie® Plank – Horizontal lap siding that creates clean, classic lines suitable for both traditional and contemporary barn designs. This is the alternative to our standard tongue and groove siding.
  • Hardie® Panel– Vertical panel installation that complements the traditional barn aesthetic while providing seamless weather protection. This is the alternative to our standard rough sawn Fir w/ Cedar batten siding.

Both options are combined with Hardie trim and soffits to create cohesive exterior packages that address all weather exposure points while maintaining consistent visual appeal. These siding options come primed and ready for paint.

Installation Requirements

James Hardie siding options require all exterior walls to have CDX sheathed stud walls for mounting and installation. These walls are designed standard in all of our residential models, including the Denali, Huntington and Caretaker barn apartments, and can be added to agricultural barn and shop package. Your project specialist can speak to more to these details if you have questions about wall requirements for your intended structure use.

Investment Protection and Integration

James Hardie backs their fiber cement siding with a comprehensive 30-year non-prorated limited warranty that transfers with property ownership. This transferable warranty adds to your property’s value while providing significant protection for your structure investment.

Like all Barn Pros material choices, James Hardie siding is engineered into your structure’s design from the beginning, ensuring proper installation details and coordination with other building systems.

Whether you’re building in fire-prone regions, hurricane zones, or areas with strict architectural requirements, James Hardie fiber cement siding provides an additional tool for creating structures that stand strong for generations.
